The Baldur's Gate 3 Creators Reveal a Latest Divinity, Labeling it Their Most Ambitious RPG Ever

The anticipation about The Game Awards reached a fever pitch, particularly after host Geoff Keighley shared a mysterious image of a desert monolith. The question has now been solved. The acclaimed developer is developing a fresh Divinity game.

Revealed to be Divinity, the game was debuted with a daring trailer that included memorable imagery, from a burning man to scenes of revelry and the very opening of infernal gates.

Moving Beyond Original Sin

For those expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian warned that a direct sequel to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not being worked on now.

Nevertheless, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the main series. This phrasing implies that the team could be building a real-time experience as opposed to another turn-based title. Currently, we can only guess, as only a teaser video is available.

What Makes Divinity Special

The Divinity series is universally respected and many say it kicked off the recent resurgence of deep computer role-playing games. These games are known for intricate stories, branching plots, and flexible progression—elements that subsequently found massive success in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its world is traditional swords and sorcery, what makes Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust given to the player.

While numerous modern RPGs have streamlined options, Divinity is packed with specialized paths you can achieve if you're playing as a distinct build with a personal story.

The series is also famously flexible, enabling players to improvise both in story and combat. Virtually all objectives can be completed in multiple ways, sometimes in surprising fashion.

  • You might progress the story because you remembered something a non-human character said.
  • Or, you could bypass a challenge by teleporting a glob of lava in a clever way.

A New Chapter Begins

It is these creative systems that lead fans and critics to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games of all time. Now, players can look forward to another adventure in this groundbreaking franchise.
